Ellen Rogers is an all-analogue fashion photographer. Through her work, Rogers creates timeless dream worlds where temptresses seduce and lure you into unknown, dark lands. A firm believer in the art of analogue photography, Rogers does not utilize any digital equipment or computer based manipulation (other than scanning the end result) and has developed most techniques through experimentation with traditional darkroom processes.

About the work.
I am desperately trying to find something.
My search in the black foam and the fog of my psyche.
I see no other way to that place/emotion/world, oh I don’t know.
I saw it in a dream recently. I knew instantly I would be there again.
I hope I am there again.
I need to find that place, to right the wrongs, it is the punishment that I need, perhaps?
I can feel a reality slipping away from me, with this drive replacing it, this quest.
Where my problems are worked out and my worries are confirmed and made corporeal, real worries walking and seeing, they are deformed and contorted ideas in the flesh (and in the fog), where in there/here even your taunts will leave me smiling.
I think I will get there, perhaps I will see some of you there.

All my models come from reputable agencies who supply me upon request.
If you are enquiring about a print, please note that I can only sell what is there at the store at that point. I do not take requests and I cannot print one offs. I buy them from the printers, in bulk, to keep costs down. Not only this but certain images are co-licensed by the companies who commissioned them, so I cannot sell them for legal reasons.
I am happy to say I work completely alone on my post production and currently I have a lovely assistant Hayley who helps out whilst I shoot (who is an amazing photographer) so I am not currently in any need for extra help. I will advertise otherwise if anything changes.

What camera do you use?
I use about 30-40 different cameras. It really depends on my mood. Anything from 35mm, 6x6-7-9 to 5x4.
What Film do you use?
As far as supplies go, I use what I can afford. So in short any B/W film. In date or out of date I’ll use it all.
What is your technique?
Ultimately I like to keep secrets (I would go so far to say that I am in love with secret keeping) but I will say that it is all darkroom based and it isn’t set in stone. It can be a mixture of alternative processes to straight silver gelatine. Essentially my technique is experimentation. I also make my own chemicals, it’s dangerous and it gives me funny headaches.
